Born in 1983, Esfahan, Iran.

Resides in Turin, Italy.

Masih Karimi is a multidisciplinary artist, began his artistic journey as a self-taught painter and musician from a young age. He participated in painting courses at Esfahan Art University and Esfahan Painters Association during his teenage years. Simultaneously, he explored music, learning instruments like violin, electric and classical guitar.

In 2002, his life took a turn when he discovered the rich world of ethnic and maqam music from Iran’s Kurdistan. This led to his proficiency in playing Daf and Tanbur, learning from maestro Ali Akbar Moradi and accomplished musicians like Nabil Youssef and Sara Fotros. By 2007, he transitioned to a teaching role, sharing his knowledge of Daf and Tanbur.

In 2021, he moved to Italy to study painting at the Albertina Academy of Turin. Teaming up with Peppe Frana and Ciro Montanari in 2022, Masih co-founded the Soma band, performing in Rome, Faenza, Naples, and Nice. Alongside his musical pursuits, he conducted Daf and Tanbur workshops in Rome, Faenza, and Naples.
The culmination of his experiences came in 2023 with the release of the debut album “SOMA,” marking another milestone in his artistic journey.
